We are pleased to announce that SunBelt Furniture Xpress, Inc. of Hickory, NC and ATS of St. Cloud, MN accomplished a financial merger on October 31, 2001. The previous shareholders of SunBelt are continuing as shareholders. SunBelt will function as a separate operating unit with no change in the day-to-day operations. The existing management, staff, personnel and owner operators will remain in place.
ATS, founded in 1955, provides specialized and heavy hauling, general commodity van traffic, and logistics operations to points in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic the US Virgin Islands and worldwide through ATS Maritime Services. ATS is headquartered in St. Cloud, MN with offices and terminals throughout the US and the Caribbean, with agents in China, India and Japan.
SunBelt, founded in 1965, provides Specialized New Furniture transportation service to all points in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Florida panhandle, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Nevada (Zips 889-891), New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Mexico. Operations take place in facilities containing over 220,000 square feet located in Hickory, Conover, Thomasville, NC and Martinsville, Va.
There will be no change in the operation of SunBelt, other than the opportunity for growth internally and externally. Both companies (ATS & SunBelt) are very strong financially, and combined they are even stronger. We are excited about the agreement, and wanted to share the news with our employees, owner operators, customers and all our friends.
